Post Partum Quick Recovery

Pregnancy can be rough on our bodies. Out of the majority of my friends, I was the first one to step into baby making territory. Naturally, that meant I got to answer everyone’s questions and tell them exactly how things went down. Good thing I am an open book who doesn’t spare a single detail.

One of the main questions I got asked was how in the world I got my body back so quickly. Back then (its been almost 6 years since I had a baby!) it was a known fact that I worked out at least 3 times a week. However, I wasn’t a healthy eater. I barely ate vegetables, fruit on occasion and I lived on a diet high in animal protein and refined grains like bread and pasta.

I also didn’t ever do cardio. It just wasn’t (and still isn’t) something I like to do.

40 weeks pregnant baby #1 (Won’t even look at the camera)

During my pregnancy I was looking into everything that would help me get my body back immediately. Having no friends to turn to, naturally, I looked to the fabulous Brooke Burke for every single bit of advice. After having 4 kids, she still looks absolutely amazing. At the time, her new Baboosh Baby line was just starting to boom. One of her top selling products was her  Tauts Post Pregnancy Belly Wrap.

It is half the price now than it was back then, but I would still have made the investment today. I gained 5o pounds with my daughter. By the end I was miserable and way bigger than I thought I would ever be in my life. (Thus the horrifying photo that I’m sharing.) I had my daughter 4 days after this photos was taken and immediately started using my Belly WrapWithin a month I noticed a huge difference in the size of my post baby belly. My stomach had started looking flatter and firmer.

I kept my band on as often as I could. The biggest issue was that you could often see it through my clothes when I wore something a little more snug. Other than that it was great.

Then there were two…

I wish I could say I had a big dramatic photo, to show you the difference, but just as I got my body and weight back, I found out I was pregnant with baby #2. Again, I had my Tauts Post Baby Pregnancy Wrap in my hospital bag. Then having two children under a year and a half old, I didn’t wear my wrap as often as I had after my daughter.

Still, at the 6 month mark I had seen huge results in my stomach. I still think back and wish I had been eating a healthier diet, because I know my results would have been even better. However, considering that my diet was high in processed carbs and sugar, it’s pretty impressive how well the band worked.

Sneak a Peek

I chose to buy my band in a beige color so that it wouldn’t stand out as much under my clothing. You can see an example of what it looked like here.

Now sweat bands are becoming a more and more popular thing and when I started looking into them I noticed that Brooke Burke is also promoting one of those as well.

Both wraps are similar in price. This personally makes me think that the Unisex Sports Wrap would actually be a better way to go. Because it is designed for activewear, I would imagine it would be better during the crazy day to day activity of a mom. Plus, because it is designed for workouts, it is something you could continue to use long after pregnancy recovery is over.

No Matter What Mama, You Got This

1 year after back to back baby making

I just wanted to share with you guys a little bit about what I did to get my body back after baby. I have so many friends these days that are just starting to have children and I find that those questions are being asked of me again. It’s not always easy to remember the day-to-day of our lives with little ones. A lot of it was just keeping my head above water.

I will say, the use of this band really helped take one thing off my mind and it felt better at the end of the night to look in the mirror and see my former self coming back a little more each day.

Looks are not the most important thing. I came out of pregnancy with a very different body than I did going into it. However, it was so important to me to feel like myself again. Pregnancy hormones, tiredness and sickness were not something I enjoyed in the slightest. Especially back to back. Getting back to my normal way of feeling, looking and functioning was crucial to me. These belly bands were just a small part of taking steps back toward a normal way of life; and I’m thankful that I had them.
