Being a homeschool mom, one of the things I have loved the most is being able to work with my kiddos one on one in the kitchen. I think it’s so important for little ones to get a good idea of how to do basic cooking and baking. Learning to cook is such a confidence booster for kids and teaches them self reliance. Maybe someday they’ll start cooking for me…I’m just going to throw that out there. I used to take an hour out of each week just to get really hands on with my 6 and 7 year old. We’ve flipped grilled cheese, used cookie cutters, tried piping frosting. All the fun things that the kitchen has to offer. Then my little girl started to get really into all of it; she wanted to cook or bake every day. As any parent knows, life doesn’t always provide the time to spend an hour in the kitchen supervising and making a mess. If you do happen to have time, it can be tough coming up with ideas on what to make; something easy but healthy. Something not too messy but that still allows them to be creative. Then I discovered these easy and fun kid baking projects that can be brought strait to your door.
When I started to see images of rainbow colored pancakes and these fun brightly colored kits I of course thought they were junk food products filled with fake dies. Imagine how happy I was to find out I was wrong. Foodstirs is constantly putting out a variety of high quality, cleaned up treats for you and your family. My daughter receives their bimonthly baking subscriptions and has so much fun putting together each creation.
Their subscriptions come with everything you need (minus a few quick store grabs.) Here is a shot from their site where they detail everything that comes in one of their subscription boxes.
If you have creative bakers who you want to encourage in the kitchen, I highly recommend signing up for a subscription.
You can also find their products on the shelves at Target now. I think my eyes popped out of my head the first time I strolled passed one of their displays! You’ll see at the bottom of this post, Thrive Market is carrying their baking mixes too.
Love with Foodr doesn’t offer a ton of baking or cooking options, but it is a great way to get kids psyched about healthier food options. You even have the option to choose gluten free. Having struggled with gluten intolerance myself, I get super psyched to know there is a company out there with great gluten free products. If your child struggles with gluten, you can try their Love With Food Gluten-Free Box at 25% OFF.
They will send out a different kit to your kiddo each month while also helping fight childhood hunger. A portion of every order goes toward helping fight childhood hunger. Plus, if you spread the word and let your friends know, earn commissions by promoting Love With Food and get money off your orders as well!
Kidstir has been making a huge buzz in big magazines like Parents, Better Homes, Food Network and Live Naturally. Kidstir was started by a group of moms who started out just wanting to encourage their own children to eat well and make good food choices. A group of professional chefs and cook book authors that wanted to help kids create their own cookbooks and learn the basics of cooking. On top of cute baking kits, a starter cook book and games, Kidstir.com also offers 30% off when you sign up for their newsletter. Kidstir got it totally right. They combine learning about food right along side the fun of creating it.
Thrive Market is a company that I just all around adore. Mostly because I don’t have to leave my couch to enjoy shopping there! They always have great monthly deals and good sales on foods that are already marked down. While they don’t offer kits specific to kids, they have a ton of easy make mixes that you can order and do with your little ones. They are great in the sense that they will cater to your dietary restrictions. Gluten free, vegan, paleo. Thrive Market also offers 25% off your first purchase!
At the end of the day, all these options offer tons of fun and learning opportunities for your children. Easy an fun kid baking projects are such a great bonnier experience. Having them brought strait to your door is just a giant perk. In fact, my daughter has a cupcake kit waiting for her right now!
