So many families are getting wiser when it comes to financial spending. It’s so great to see so many planning their meals and making the most of their food. Breakfast is probably the absolute easiest way to do this, in my opinion. Having three kids under my roof, I am a stickler for breakfast being the most important meal of the day. The most important meal in our house is also the least expensive. Most weeks we spend $10 on breakfasts to meal prep for our family of 5.
I’m not talking a bowl full of sugary cereal and milk, or a sugar stuffed, sugar topped Pop Tarts. I’m talking meal prepping a whole, filling, nutrient packed breakfast to start your family’s day the right way. It takes about 30 minutes worth of meal prepping to get quick grab breakfasts ready for the entire week. These breakfasts are easy for the kids to warm up in the morning or just grab on the go. Really, all you need is 3 things. All of which are usually stocked in our pantry: quick oats, milk (we choose coconut) and bananas. I tossed in frozen berries just for some added pizzaz! Fruit after all, helps naturally boost dopamine levels. So let’s talk about the 2 recipes I meal prep to stretch these 3 ingredients to last 5 people for 7 days!
Last week was a doozey (that’s a word, right?) We had some serious life changes happen and my over-thinking brain had a field day with it. As a mom those days when you feel stressed and overloaded, it seems there is just no time to process your own emotions. Often we find we are too busy tending to everyone else’s needs; trying to keep up with cooking, cleaning, work, friendships and the kid’s schedules. Chances are something falls by the wayside, and in my case it’s usually cleaning and reading. Letting the cleaning slide is no huge deal; except for the fact that if I am living in a messy, cluttered house it only adds to my stress. My frustrations with life only peak when I see my counters covered in dried food, 18 water glasses (seriously, it’s like the house in Signs up in here) and half finished art projects scattered everywhere. Not to mention the dirt on the carpet, crumbs on the kitchen floor and somehow everything is sticky and stinky. It feels like I’m failing. If anyone out there is raising their hands and shouting “AMEN SISTER!” Let me share with you how to spend less time cleaning your house with these household organization hacks.
My family and I downsized our house last year. Since then I have repeatedly downsized our downsized house. At this point I could probably live in a shoebox happily; or so I thought. As much as I love living the minimalist diet I had to make some compromising when it came to my clothes. As someone who used to have a serious shoe addiction and shopping obsession, I was pretty impressed with how much I was able to downsize my wardrobe. Then I heard about the 3/33 challenge, I was all in!
The 3/33 Challenge means 3 months and only 33 articles of clothing. This includes, shoes, jewelry, scarves and belts. Not including pj pants and workout clothes. (whew!) The best part is, you don’t have to totally say goodbye to all the other clothes. You tuck them away for a rainy day and then switch out your wardrobe after the 3 months is up. You can read all about it and more on the Be More With Less website.
